Jo, Rahul and Steph Rahul and Steph came to work with Transition Finsbury Park from October to December 2011 - one of several student exchange projects running in the UK at the same time. Global Xchange ran the project which was initiated by Voluntary Services Overseas and the British Council. Asian Action Group ran the London leg of the Global Exchange project which linked students from the UK with students from India who would first of all spend time in Haringey and then spend time in Rajasthan. While in India, the students were looked after by Pravah. Students were paired up (one from the UK, one from India) and allocated to local project like TFP, Organic Lea, Growing Communities, the Selby Trust and Wood Works Wonders. As well as having voluntary placements, the students spent time together as a group learning about issues such as global citizenship and inequality. They also had to work together as a team to create a particular project. This year's cohort planned a one-off farmers' market.
Steph and Rahul supported the work of Transition Finsbury Park consistently over several weeks in tasks such as gardening, event marketing, research and bid writing. Their blogs make very interesting reading.
